Hello and a happy new year to you!
Hope that you are feeling full of beans after all the festive shenanigans. And, if you’re not - hope that you have the space and time to do whatever you need to get yourself back on track.
The message for this first-of-the-year’s Wednesday Wellbeing message is simple: do what you need to do to take care of you.
On our way back from a walk in the wild woods yesterday, we watched a pack of seagulls do battle against Storm Henk. They seemed determined to get to wherever they were trying to get, straining their wings against the near-gale force winds. They’d lift and drop, trying to find a way through. Did they make it? No. At least, not that time. They dropped back and settled on a rooftop. Perhaps waiting until the conditions were more favourable. Perhaps choosing a different route. It looked absolutely exhausting.
There is so much pressure to be forward thinking at this time of year. Figuring out what steps we need to take to make things (and ourselves) bigger and brighter. Getting ready to smash goals. It’s all a little bit shouty, isn’t it.
And that’s great if it's actually what you need right now. Sometimes we do need a bit of a shake up. But if it’s not what you need - if you’re one of the people who get wrung out by the festive season - then, please, do what you need to do to get yourself feeling bright again.
Change can happen anytime. Getting yourself steady and feeling strong is step one. Once you’re there, you can begin figuring out where you want to go next.
Resolve to take care of your precious self. Everything else can wait
